I have a 1984 mustang SVO for sale.

the car is a daily driver with 118,000 miles on it,mew original color 
maroon paint and the gray cloth interior. the upholstory is in good 
condition,with only a little wear showing on the drivers seat where you 
get in and out,and a crack in the dash pad.The Radio is missing.
the tires are in good shape and lots of miles left on them.the car doesnt 
leak any fluids and tthe air conditioning works great. I would like to

Okie... well, I'm still repairing my fire damage.. acctualy, I'm just
moving over all the parts from my dead Turbo Coupe...
Question... the alternator on the Turbo Coupe has 3 wires... I figured the
green and the brown are the same, but what about the black one? Is that the
same as the ground wire on the other alternator? Might seem like a stupid
question, but the alt. in the svo has 2 wires in the conector, and +/- on
the body of the alt.  The Turbo Coupe has a black wire in the conector, and
none going to its body... hmm.. :)

I just went back and re-read a Dave Compton description of "real purpose" for
this list.  For those who may have been put off by a recent "opinion"
regarding the appropriateness of such arcane SVO subject matters as air
conditioning, dash knobs and leather interiors, the following is pasted from
that Compton introduction and welcome:

You are one of the first and few memebers of this list, and
coments and stories might be few. Hopefully soon interest will
increase, and a lot more information will flow!
We can probably all benefit from information from other kinds of 2.3L
Turbo Fords.  Pretty much all subjects are allowed... as long as it has to do
any of the 2.3L Turbos... Maybe there are even a few people with
converted cars out there?"

I would add that the subject matter is clearly listed with each List
broadcast, the assumption of course being that you may read it or not based
on your interest.  With deference to and respect for the detailed and very
informative mechanical go fast information which I am also very interested
in, my personal emphasis is on the restoration of the rare and endangered
milestone SVO - to include the gee gaw and cosmetic aspects of

Can anyone help me here? I have an 87 Turbo coupe that has a bad
hesitation or studdering problem while driving. I've changed the
cap,rotor,plugs,and wires. I've checked the vacum hoses over and over
again for cracks but didn't find any. Was this a common problem with
these cars and the SVO's? I would appreciate any information anybody
would have. I've heard that these cars don't run well without the stock
cap and rotor,and wires. Is this so,and would this make the car do this
even if the parts that I have are only about 800 miles old? The car runs
great on acceleration,but when I'm driving at a constant pace at
2,000rpm and below,it will start breaking up real bad. The plugs that I
am using are Bosch Platinums and I also have a K&N filter with a
polished throttle body and Dynomax mufflers.
