All the cranks and rods are the same. For two years Ford did not drill the
rods for side oiling, it cost them many many motors. Without the side oiling
the pistons scuffed. This is why we do not use aftermarket rods. The eary
cranks had a oil slinger on the back flange of the crank, they did not have a
one piece rear main seal. If you are bending rods you are detonating. This is
why the rods fail, they bend and then they break at the oil hole.
