I'll bet it's the TFI.  TFI overheats - ignition dies.  TFI cools down -
car restarts -  all seems well - No codes.  Perhaps the dielectric
grease between the TFI and distributor has broken down, causing the TFI
to overheat.  The distributor acts as a heat sink for the TFI.
